Foolishness

Please forgive this foolishness
I know no better way to pour
Out the contents of my soul
Than to the empty page
I’m sorry that I must do this
I need to say that your
Words have taken my control
My head locked in a cage

I knew some things before that day
Dismissed them as not true
Until I tried to close your door
And missed when going in
Hang on every word you say
Look to you for a clue
That you might be up for more
And ready to begin

Don’t just want the you that’s fun
Take you for all you are
I could just be near to you
Listening to your voice
I won’t chase you if you run
But I will travel far
If you say you want me to
Everything’s your choice

I won’t wait my life for you
Let you play a game
I don’t think you ever would
You having been played
You’re the one my thoughts drift to
Nothing quite the same
Why deny something so good
We could have it made
